pReCiOuSsSs~~~

Everyone likes something precious. Everyone wants to keep something precious. Everyone wants to own something precious.

But... what happened to Precious in this movie???

Does anybody care about her?

Does anybody love her?

Does anybody appreciate her?

This is a very sad movie about a black girl being raped by her OWN father and been abused by her OWN mother. How did you feel if you are in this kind of situation? Will you still going to school like Precious did? Or you will hide in your dark room wishing for somebody out there offers you a help?

Precious did none of the above. Even though she faces all sorts of problem, and was pregnant, she still goes to school. She then was discovered by the school principal that she was pregnant again for the second time. She was sent to the alternative class where she was help by Ms Rain. This teacher cares very deeply about her and because of Ms Rain she started to believe in herself. Believing in ourselves is such an important in order to let all the best things happens to us. This is when Precious makes her life turn the other way round.

As a teacher, I think I need to be ready in case I have to deal with student like this. They need help and support and that is the first thing that we have to offer! Don’t discriminate. Students are innocent!!

to WRITE or NOT TO WRITE

Ahhh.. I seriously hate writing the most. This semester will surely killing me as I have to write two different papers. Position paper and the other one is research paper. I don’t have any idea what position paper is at first, but after listen to t friends’ explanation I slowly get the idea on how to write a position paper.

I have choose my story and also the topic but where to start? How to start?

Oh God! If, and only if I know how to play with words, I will be one happy girl in the world. Anyone out there want to help me with my position paper??? Feel free to do that okay~

Dear classmates, lets write!!

the portrayal of WOMEN in MLIE. . .

I always have problem when it comes to writing. I am not the kind of people who can easily write what comes into my mind. I am not a good writer but try my best to be one.

At first, I don’t have any idea what I’m going to write for my research paper. But after having a long thought about it, I decided to write on “the portrayal of WOMEN in MLIE”. I have decided to work on this topic for my research paper because for me, Malaysian text is easier to understand compared to others. Maybe this is because the social context is very near to us.

I don’t know how to work on this topic, but after talking to my seniors from FBMK, and after going to the main library, I finally know what aspect that I have to focus on in my writing. I just hope that I can finish writing it on time and makes some progression each and every day. Wish me luck for my research paper!

findingFORRESTER~~

I found out that Finding Forrester is quite a boring movie. Maybe it's because the pace of this movie is quite slow. It is very slow moving from one scene to another but after reading a short summary about the movie before this movie started i can grasp a little bit of idea what this movie is about.

Everyone think that Mr. Forrester, a writer has passed away. Nobody knows the fact that he is still alive. It has been discovered by a boy, JAMAL WALLACE who happened to go to his house not knowing who the owner is. Accidentally, Jamal leaves behind his backpack, full of his precious writings. Their relationship begins when Forrester read all those writings and corrected them. By the time Jamal go back to the house to pick up his bag, he discovered who Forrester is. They become a close friends and Jamal let Forrester become his mentor. They share lots of things about writing and this has makes Jamal become a successful students.

We can see how friendship knows no limit. You didn’t lose anything by making friends and try to accept others’ opinions. See how Jamal progress so well by accepting Forrester’s comments. Both of them develop such a wonderful relationship with benefits both parties!

YES! you can LEAN ON ME~

Lean on me is another story about a male teacher dealing with such stubborn and wild students. Mr.Joe Louis Clark has to bring back the reputation of Eastside High where all of the students acting like they had lost their sense of humanity. They act very wild and it seems that they are uncontrollable. But with the new principal, Mr. Joe Clerk, coming in to the school and reinforce strict discipline, the students finally become human!

Thanks to the principal who has a very creative way in dealing with the students. These kind of rebellious students just need to be dealt using discipline. It’s a wonder how discipline works well in an organisation. At some point, we may think that he is too much and very radical, but seriously, this is the only way to save Eastside High.

Although we may say that Mr Joe Clark is too much, but he still has some kind of consideration. It is just that the students and the teacher cannot see it lying secretly deep inside his heart. What is more important is to let discipline plays a major role in shaping students’ attitude in school!

A.K.E.E.L.A.H and the B.E.E~

Akeelah and the bee is not a story of a girl with her bee or whatsoever. The bee has nothing to do with the honey bee but it is actually the spelling bee.

It is a very inspirational movie about a girl who is very good with words. She can remember lots of words in the dictionary and can spell it correctly. She has a dream to win the Scripps National Spelling Bee even though her mom did not agree with it. She works her ass off in order to win. She read the dictionary every day, makes short notes and went for a special tutorial with Dr. Larabee. All the hard works she’s been putting in really worth it when she was announced as the winner.

Imagine a little girl with a big dream and determination, going through all sorts of torture and everything to finally stand as a winner. Can I be just like her? Can I have such determination that will drive me towards achieving my goal?

I know, it is all depends on me. The way I handle my problems and the efforts that I put in will be an important factor in order to see how far i can go. Let us be inspired by this little girl, AKEELAH!!

THE STORY OF r o n. C l e r k

I have watched this movie on Hallmark quite some time ago. I remembered this story as a very interesting one. So, when I know that we are going to watch it again in class, I was so excited.

This story shows us how a teacher tries his best in order to fit in to the students’ needs. For me, that is how a real teacher should be. We cannot just give up if we happened to teach problematic students. It is not their fault they behaving like that. May be there is something wrong at home or it is their parents. I know that if it was me replacing Ron Clerk, I will surely give up seeing how the kids acting so rude in my class. But hey!! Does the problem settled if you just give up? What will happen to the students?

From this movie, I can see how Ron Clerk tries all sorts of approaches in order to tackle his students. He wants them to have the interest towards learning and enjoy the learning process. It is not something simple. It might take all of our time but it worth a try. Once you get them listen to you, the learning process will be very smooth and easy. Students must have respects towards us as their teacher, so try harder to gain the respect.

How I hope I can be as excellent as Ron in order to bring out the best in my students. Students cannot be blame. We, as a teacher plays an important role to find ways to deal with them.

Mom, I want to get MARRIED~~

HEHE.. A title is just a title. This is not me who wants to get married. I just want to talk about issues we have been discussing in class. Dr. Jaya asked us to discuss about arranged marriage during last class. Was it good or bad?? Why is it so good? Why is it bad?

This issue is not something new to us. But, as the new generations, many of us are against arranged marriage. For us, it is our life, so the decision is ours. Not the parents or anybody else. But after listening to my friends’ thought regarding this issue, I start to see this issue from a very different perspective. Like my friend said, marriage is not just between the man and the woman. It is also about the two different families joining together through the marriage of their child. So, it is okay to let the parents choose our future husband/wife because they know us well. They will surely try to find someone nice, from a good family that can fits in with our family.

But still, this is an arguable issue. There are pros and cons depending on how people see it. In my point of view, I can say that there is nothing wrong for the parents to help their child finding their future spouse, BUT let your child decide. You just can suggest someone but it doesn’t mean that the child must agree to it.

As for me, I do not mind having an arranged marriage as long as the man has a good job, reliable, and has all the good qualities. Bring it on!! Why not??

My Name Is LILY the Pig ^^

Have you ever heard of fables? I am sure you are familiar with fables since you were kids right? Yes, I am going to write about fables.

In our tutorial class, we were asked to come out with our own fable. As everyone out there knows, fables should be a story about animal. So the animal that we chose to be the main character in our fable is PIG. With the name of Lily, this cute chubby piggy tells the story on how to live with a healthy life style. We must not only think of being so thin or slim because when you are slim it doesn’t mean that you are healthy. There is more than just being slim because it is meaningless of being thin but you suffered from anorexic or bulimic. Our fable revolves around this kind of issue.

We, (me, fiza, ima , and asiah ) hope that this fable can help the young peeps out there, especially the high school students to take note and realize how to really take care of your body through our fable. Do not abuse yourself and please, do appreciate your body

DROW-GAMES Knock-out Competiton~

Here we are once again at the resource centre having DROW-GAMES Knock-out Competition. We were assigned to our own partner and have to play against him/her on the internet. If we win the game, we will go on to the next round until the final round and have the chance to win the great prizes.

And not being so lucky that day, I was lost on the first round. I was expecting this to happen because most of my classmates are getting used to this games because they have been playing the game for the whole week. I cannot do that because there is no internet connection at my college. What a poor excuse but hey, I cannot just went out to McD at 2 am just to play this game. Poor me! It was so frustrating though knowing that one of us will get the iPod touch that I dreamed on for so long.

Anyhow, I don’t mind because the winners really deserved the prizes. They play the game days and nights and it really worth their tries. Congrats to all the winners!!!

Mona Lisa SMILE~

Thursday is movie-watching day....

First movie that we watched was Mona Lisa Smile. I know this is quite a famous movie with Julia Robert in it but this is my first time watching this movie. I don’t know what to expect in this movie as I think it is going to be a very heavy movie and literature kind of movie. But this movie proved me wrong. In this movie I can see how an Art History teacher named Katherine Ann Willis (Julia Roberts) trying hard to deal with her very ‘intelligent’ students. Can you imagine having a class of students who knows every single thing you were going to say the moment they heard you blurted out the first few words? It sounds so scary right, especially for a beginner teacher. But Katherine tries her very best to teach the students that education is not just what is stated in the text book. It is much more than that. Knowledge is so wide that the more we explore, the more we realize how little the knowledge we already had. So, in this movie the teacher tries to challenge the students by giving them questions outside of the textbook. The students then realize knowledge is scattered in each and every part of the world. This is when they start to respect the teacher and realize how small they are compared to Katherine. As a teacher we have to find ways if we have to face this kind of students. We did not want them to lose respect because after all, we are the teacher!

Research & Innovation

There is no tutorial once again. But hey, it doesn’t mean that I can just go back and relax. We were asked to go to Pameran Rekacipta Penyelidikan & Inovasi at Dewan Besar, PKKSSAAS, UPM . I don’t have any idea what this is all about. But after we take a look around the entire hall, I can see there are lots of new innovations invented by UPM lecturers. Dr. Jaya wants us to take a look on how research being conducted because we are going to write research paper.

There are lots of things that we must take into consideration while conducting a research. We have to really understand the research we done so that everything will going on smoothly. That is what I get from this exhibition. It is really inspiring seeing how far those lecturers can go with their unique products and all. It makes me think that I have such a long way to go before I can be one of them. This exhibition has open up my eyes and my mind to be just like them one day!

Word games? Its DROW ~ games . .

Can you imagine going to the class and were asked to just play a game? It was great to just sit back and relax, enjoying the game with my fellow classmates. But, this is not just like any ordinary online games.
This drow games is very special because it was invented by my lecturer, Dr. Jayakaran Mukundan. This games allow us to be more familiar with English words and its meaning. Playing this game quite a number of time during the class makes me realize that this game is good for students to add in more vocab. even though some of the words are repeated through out the game, it is still okay because this will help us to memorize the words. all of my classmates are now busy playing this online game because Dr. Jaya will offer a very, very special prizes that no one can resist which is iPod touch and iPod nanos.

Do you want to win the prizes? Lets battle!!

MUSIC ~ the poetry of the air...

Music is something than can gather people from all over the world. Music never fails to make people happier. During our tutorial last time, we were asked to listen to two different songs. The first song is ‘Alejandro’ by Lady Gaga and ‘Toumba’ by Saieen Zahoor. Those two songs have a very great melody and it makes me rewind the songs over and over again through my mp3 player.

Lady Gaga appeared very wild in her music video and it is not something new when it comes to Gaga. I cannot comprehend what is behind the music video because it is so complicated and it seemed like there are different stories layer by layer of the music video. Moreover, this is the first time I listen to this song. So, I cannot relate the lyrics to the music video.

As for the ‘Toumba’ song, I don’t know what language that Saieen Zahoor used, but still I was able to really listen to it. It was a very soothing song with a great melody.

Yes, music never fails people. When music is in the air, the world is full of it, and we just can take it and enjoy very bits of it.
