Thursday is movie-watching day....
First movie that we watched was Mona Lisa Smile. I know this is quite a famous movie with Julia Robert in it but this is my first time watching this movie. I don’t know what to expect in this movie as I think it is going to be a very heavy movie and literature kind of movie. But this movie proved me wrong. In this movie I can see how an Art History teacher named Katherine Ann Willis (Julia Roberts) trying hard to deal with her very ‘intelligent’ students. Can you imagine having a class of students who knows every single thing you were going to say the moment they heard you blurted out the first few words? It sounds so scary right, especially for a beginner teacher. But Katherine tries her very best to teach the students that education is not just what is stated in the text book. It is much more than that. Knowledge is so wide that the more we explore, the more we realize how little the knowledge we already had. So, in this movie the teacher tries to challenge the students by giving them questions outside of the textbook. The students then realize knowledge is scattered in each and every part of the world. This is when they start to respect the teacher and realize how small they are compared to Katherine. As a teacher we have to find ways if we have to face this kind of students. We did not want them to lose respect because after all, we are the teacher!
