Mom, I want to get MARRIED~~

HEHE.. A title is just a title. This is not me who wants to get married. I just want to talk about issues we have been discussing in class. Dr. Jaya asked us to discuss about arranged marriage during last class. Was it good or bad?? Why is it so good? Why is it bad?

This issue is not something new to us. But, as the new generations, many of us are against arranged marriage. For us, it is our life, so the decision is ours. Not the parents or anybody else. But after listening to my friends’ thought regarding this issue, I start to see this issue from a very different perspective. Like my friend said, marriage is not just between the man and the woman. It is also about the two different families joining together through the marriage of their child. So, it is okay to let the parents choose our future husband/wife because they know us well. They will surely try to find someone nice, from a good family that can fits in with our family.

But still, this is an arguable issue. There are pros and cons depending on how people see it. In my point of view, I can say that there is nothing wrong for the parents to help their child finding their future spouse, BUT let your child decide. You just can suggest someone but it doesn’t mean that the child must agree to it.

As for me, I do not mind having an arranged marriage as long as the man has a good job, reliable, and has all the good qualities. Bring it on!! Why not??

My Name Is LILY the Pig ^^

Have you ever heard of fables? I am sure you are familiar with fables since you were kids right? Yes, I am going to write about fables.

In our tutorial class, we were asked to come out with our own fable. As everyone out there knows, fables should be a story about animal. So the animal that we chose to be the main character in our fable is PIG. With the name of Lily, this cute chubby piggy tells the story on how to live with a healthy life style. We must not only think of being so thin or slim because when you are slim it doesn’t mean that you are healthy. There is more than just being slim because it is meaningless of being thin but you suffered from anorexic or bulimic. Our fable revolves around this kind of issue.

We, (me, fiza, ima , and asiah ) hope that this fable can help the young peeps out there, especially the high school students to take note and realize how to really take care of your body through our fable. Do not abuse yourself and please, do appreciate your body

DROW-GAMES Knock-out Competiton~

Here we are once again at the resource centre having DROW-GAMES Knock-out Competition. We were assigned to our own partner and have to play against him/her on the internet. If we win the game, we will go on to the next round until the final round and have the chance to win the great prizes.

And not being so lucky that day, I was lost on the first round. I was expecting this to happen because most of my classmates are getting used to this games because they have been playing the game for the whole week. I cannot do that because there is no internet connection at my college. What a poor excuse but hey, I cannot just went out to McD at 2 am just to play this game. Poor me! It was so frustrating though knowing that one of us will get the iPod touch that I dreamed on for so long.

Anyhow, I don’t mind because the winners really deserved the prizes. They play the game days and nights and it really worth their tries. Congrats to all the winners!!!

Mona Lisa SMILE~

Thursday is movie-watching day....

First movie that we watched was Mona Lisa Smile. I know this is quite a famous movie with Julia Robert in it but this is my first time watching this movie. I don’t know what to expect in this movie as I think it is going to be a very heavy movie and literature kind of movie. But this movie proved me wrong. In this movie I can see how an Art History teacher named Katherine Ann Willis (Julia Roberts) trying hard to deal with her very ‘intelligent’ students. Can you imagine having a class of students who knows every single thing you were going to say the moment they heard you blurted out the first few words? It sounds so scary right, especially for a beginner teacher. But Katherine tries her very best to teach the students that education is not just what is stated in the text book. It is much more than that. Knowledge is so wide that the more we explore, the more we realize how little the knowledge we already had. So, in this movie the teacher tries to challenge the students by giving them questions outside of the textbook. The students then realize knowledge is scattered in each and every part of the world. This is when they start to respect the teacher and realize how small they are compared to Katherine. As a teacher we have to find ways if we have to face this kind of students. We did not want them to lose respect because after all, we are the teacher!

Research & Innovation

There is no tutorial once again. But hey, it doesn’t mean that I can just go back and relax. We were asked to go to Pameran Rekacipta Penyelidikan & Inovasi at Dewan Besar, PKKSSAAS, UPM . I don’t have any idea what this is all about. But after we take a look around the entire hall, I can see there are lots of new innovations invented by UPM lecturers. Dr. Jaya wants us to take a look on how research being conducted because we are going to write research paper.

There are lots of things that we must take into consideration while conducting a research. We have to really understand the research we done so that everything will going on smoothly. That is what I get from this exhibition. It is really inspiring seeing how far those lecturers can go with their unique products and all. It makes me think that I have such a long way to go before I can be one of them. This exhibition has open up my eyes and my mind to be just like them one day!

Word games? Its DROW ~ games . .

Can you imagine going to the class and were asked to just play a game? It was great to just sit back and relax, enjoying the game with my fellow classmates. But, this is not just like any ordinary online games.
This drow games is very special because it was invented by my lecturer, Dr. Jayakaran Mukundan. This games allow us to be more familiar with English words and its meaning. Playing this game quite a number of time during the class makes me realize that this game is good for students to add in more vocab. even though some of the words are repeated through out the game, it is still okay because this will help us to memorize the words. all of my classmates are now busy playing this online game because Dr. Jaya will offer a very, very special prizes that no one can resist which is iPod touch and iPod nanos.

Do you want to win the prizes? Lets battle!!

MUSIC ~ the poetry of the air...

Music is something than can gather people from all over the world. Music never fails to make people happier. During our tutorial last time, we were asked to listen to two different songs. The first song is ‘Alejandro’ by Lady Gaga and ‘Toumba’ by Saieen Zahoor. Those two songs have a very great melody and it makes me rewind the songs over and over again through my mp3 player.

Lady Gaga appeared very wild in her music video and it is not something new when it comes to Gaga. I cannot comprehend what is behind the music video because it is so complicated and it seemed like there are different stories layer by layer of the music video. Moreover, this is the first time I listen to this song. So, I cannot relate the lyrics to the music video.

As for the ‘Toumba’ song, I don’t know what language that Saieen Zahoor used, but still I was able to really listen to it. It was a very soothing song with a great melody.

Yes, music never fails people. When music is in the air, the world is full of it, and we just can take it and enjoy very bits of it.
